17 Years and 10 Months Explained

Updated: Sep 23, 2022

To clarify the 17 and 10 months rule for everyone, especially our VDRs visiting the high schools, a person can REGISTER when they are 17 years and 10 months. We want to make sure we are registering these students when we have opportunity to do so.

That student must be 18 by Election Day in order to VOTE in the election; however, if the student won't be 18 by Election Day, we want to register them if they are 17 and 10 months so that they are registered for future elections-maybe even a December run-off!

Example: It's September 21, 2022 and I will be 18 on November 21, 2022. I can register to vote today! I can not vote in the November 8, 2022 election. I would be able to vote in a December run-off.
